About International Academy of Music Hobart
Since demerging in 2025, our 8 dedicated, trained teachers all operate as independent businesses. The International Academy of Music Hobart (IAM) is now only the students taught personally by Lyndon, but we all work cooperatively. Because we have no office on site, we all still share the IAM website as a central online hub to make it easier to connect!
IAM is Tasmania’s only licensed Encore Academy and Microwave your Music provider in Rock/Pop/Vocal lessons.
Offering all level options from the highly respected Encore International Music Curriculum.
Concert exams with a difference
IAM is the only place in Hobart offering International SCSM Concert Exams for all levels, all ages, and all instruments, including vocal, musicianship, and theory.
SCSM Concert Exams are for all styles, all levels and are Tasmanian Department of Education approved, counting towards your TSL!
What makes our exams different?
Instead of the daunting experience of playing solo in an empty room in front of an examiner, students perform their selected pieces (any instrument or vocals) in an encouraging concert environment with invited friends and family as their audience.
They are available to ALL music students studying anywhere and with any method.
Microwave your Music
Microwave your Music (MYM) is a quicker, easier way to play and sing the songs you love. IAM is the only place in Hobart offering Microwave Your Music.
